Saint Jude III

Rich Evans In a fair world this album would be up there in the pantheon. Talking 'Led Zep IV' territory. It is a concept album of sorts. Intriguing lyrics, compelling vocals, a core drum-tight rock band supplemented by well chosen touches of brass, sitar and more: it is a compelling package. The album's centre of gravity is the monumental 'St Clare', but riches abound around that track. I urge you to have a listen to this wonderful album, which is in my all-time top ten. Favorite track: St Clare.

Coloured skies caress me when I go In my time I’ve seen too few though They were only as grey as the dawn Only as sharp as a thorn Gentle hands will pass me to their kin When I’m worn, a cold and white skin Though it’s only as dark as the mines Only as hard as the times In my mind I’ll try to let it go Every time I feel the wind blow Though it’s only as far as the trees Only as cool as the breeze On the line I found a form of calm That has tried to save me from harm But it's only as thin as the air Only as bright as the flare In my mind I’ll try to let it go Every time I feel the wind blow Only as sweet as she breathes Though it’s only as deep as the sea

Until 02:34
Well you say you will (I) wouldn't believe it until I have lost the thrill Of having to follow you still I'd probably fall from the top of this world into hell If you were beside me with all of the lies that you tell When you said you're mine I'm sure we were cool for a time Now it's hard to find A word that describes you in rhyme Even with you in my way Trying to stop me from saying That nothing on earth could be better than freeing my will
3.
In My Dreams 03:29
Lost in sight of Places I've gone It's a wonder I can't find my way There are doors here I can't open There are signs left I can't even see In my dreams Well it seems There was so much more that cared for me And it seems Like my dreams Will follow me forever Gone unnoticed You were worthless Could they do less? Could they even see? When they found you You were restless When I met you You were cold as sleep In my dreams Well it seems There was so much more that cared for me And it seems Like my dreams Will follow me forever
4.
There's a holler of fear from your man He is waiting for your clenched right hand Though you left it at work with your wheel he has hope that your heart can still feel And that you'll stop and think 'fore you strike Only one reason to fight You've got to see what is right before your eyes Well you win more than you lose You're victorious bloody and bruised But you answer the call when it comes, cos the war still remains to be won And you know what you're set to become There's only one reason to run You've got to live for your daughters and sons Well you know that you know what is wrong And you know that you know what you've done Not a cloud in the sky still remains That your angers been fed to the flames And you gather your strength for the good cos you know that it's good that you should Sell your hurt to the world for a chance There's only one song left to dance You've got to grab it in both of your hands Well you know that you know what is wrong And you know that you know what you've done Oh what you've done Only one reason to fight You've got to see what is right Only one reason to fight There's only one reason to fight
5.
There's a part of me still waiting For this show to stop And as I watch good men changing Its finally clear its not Here at night I often wonder How this came to pass And I push myself to anger But how long can that last But I won't let you down I won't let you down Come with me and sing my song I won't let you down One day we'll awake from this world To find ourselves alone And all the voices quiet Will be as silent stone
6.
There's a man walking around wearing my other face And he speaks the different words they want to hear Watch him gather up his defences as he keeps himself from falling apart But he's burning to tell burning to tell it all So please let me stand Please let stand here He's gathering up believers at the bridge on the other side of town On the very place he first sold his heart to you And I don't understand how they can listen to such easy promises Cos he'll be burning burning burning for all these words So please let me stand Please let stand here
7.
I'm waiting for you to walk me back home I know that I've been away I'm coming back soon, as soon as I can But I may have forgotten the way Never wandered away from the truth Never wondered if I should be right there with you With nothing to do I gather my thoughts and pack up my bags Put on my warm coat and shoes Say when can we meet? I'll leave it to you. The sooner or later you choose. Never wandered away from the truth Never wondered if I should be right there with you Now I'm wandering out on the loose And I'm wondering how I got so far from you With nothing but blues I'm waiting for you to walk me back home I know that I've been away
8.
Summer days is when I miss the wind When time holds us by hand And the silence this season is still Just a way Of counting the passing days here Without counting the days And then it's all over again And I'm closer to living their way You got up and turned my alarm off and left Without pouring a cup And I stayed here asleep With my feet off the bed And I couldn't wake up No I just Couldn't wake up At last I awake with a fright I'm much closer to god Falling apart But I can rely on The call of a heart From you
9.
Clasp your hands and pass the bowl around There's no others here standing proud When they come they'll be wearing the faces of yours That you left you left lying around And there's no other word for the sound I'm on the other side of the world Grab the rope and stretch their necks to the end They were always the weakest of course When they come they'll be judging us fairly because Of my clothes and my hair hanging down And there's no other sound for the force

St Clare 09:45
They Wouldn't have noticed I wasn't around here If I hadn't told Then They wouldn't have found me If I hadn't called them Over the phone Now I'm full of something That first was mistaken For not giving a care And now I'm on the ocean Lost on my lonesome In the care of St Clare There's a cold understanding That your safely staying Out of the way (You) show only slight consternation That I'm still complaining About every day Now I'm full of something That first was mistaken For not giving a care And now I'm on the ocean Lost on my lonesome In the care of St Clare War War never found me I must be born lucky I must have a star (For) sure As surely as I am As helpless as sampson As plain as a scar Now I'm full of something That first was mistaken For not giving a care And now I'm on the ocean Lost on my lonesome In the care of St Clare
11.
If there's truth to be found there's an answer in love I could wait all my life for such words from above And I know I could find a whole set of good reasons for keeping in mind But I don't know what I would be without you If there's love in the world it will come in good time I could fight all my life and it all would be lies And I know I could find a whole set of good reasons for wasting such time Still I don't know what I would be without you

about

Saint Jude Melbourne, Australia

Nameless cosmic forces have led our hands and throats to articulate a new lifeform, a hitherto unknown being, an empyrean music, for whom our souls have been set to labour over, its earthly avatar guitar, drum and synthesizer, the clarion call of voices raised together. And together we can reach a higher form of existence. That is not Saint Jude’s goal, it is its inevitability. ... more
